“someone” made cards - business card size - with a picture of an emaciated girl crouched before a toilet (google bulimia or eating disorders) and the text says,
“I’m RICH ENOUGH TO SHOP AT(insert name of local store)BUTNOT QUITE THIN ENOUGH”
Because this store is a foofy little high-end boutique that chooses to stock only small-to-TINY clothing. And there are plenty of designers and clothing manufacturers that make clothes in size L or ‘plus size’.
* : )
Anyways…go into the store and slip the card into pants pockets or between teeny-tiny Tshirt stacks. Funsy wunsy.
I love this idea! You never know who might need that kind of encouraging message. We all have days that we feel “not so hot,” and an unexpected note (without vandalizing anybody’s property) is a wonderful surprise. I might have to start carrying my own loaded post-it pad!!
vandalism…? I think that’s a little bit strong. Adhesives can be removed (eventually) and the ‘property’ can be returned to its original state.
Post-its are an okay idea, but not really thought through. They’re too easy to remove! *haha!* Then you’ve just wasted paper reaching maybe one or 2 people, the second of which was a hater who crumpled up your post-it, or the business owner who knows she’s beautiful anyway and doesn’t give a flying monkey if anyone else sees your message or not.
But…whatever.
I’m just sayin….don’t even bother recycling anything if you’re gonna waste $ and paper with post-it notes for this sort of project.
OR You can make one more permanenet sticker and a hundred people will see it until the weather wears it away or some more industrious person spends time and energy scraping it off.
Y’all worried about “vandals” have your knickers in a twist because it’s not like spraypainting the mirror or etching it or even using a sharpie on it. A sticker will biodegrade eventually.
Ummm . . . hope505 . . . I was not addressing your comment (which I’m assuming by your heated response, that you thought I was), but I hadn’t even read it when leaving my own comment.
I was simply saying that I think Angela’s idea is very creative and not something that could get you in trouble (in other words, anyone could do that anywhere). Not everyone can put up a billboard or have stickers printed up. The post-its were a funny way for one woman to do a little something.
Pink Post-Its are the extent of my comfort zone with “radical” activism. They suit me. I know people who are comfortable with much more radical forms of activism in all sorts of areas.
What I liked about the Post-It note model of activism is that it is a very gentle way to feel like you are making a difference, and is the kind of thing that fraidy cats like me might actually do.
Wow I see overwhelming spirit on the mirror. Your idea is just perfect, that way you feel beautiful everytime you go out.
I should have make this as a practice also
Thanks for the idea.
Embrace your beauty and love your body! The Curvy Life's mission is to empower women to stand in the full power of their bodies and to embrace their curves, no matter the size. It's time to create a culture of body love.

p.s. post-its are sweet…but…I think you should graduate to priority mail stickers. Just sayin’.
